The White House confirmed Friday that the president will soon sign an executive order on gun control.
“Yes,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said when asked by a reporter about the possibility. “I can’t give you an exact time frame, in part, because they have to go through a review process, which is something that we do from here.”

President Joe Biden provided a hint of what to expect while speaking to reporters on the tarmac en route to his home in Delaware on Friday afternoon and mentioned guns that are “made by 3D equipment.”
“We are looking at that right now,” Biden said when asked about an executive order. “We are looking at what kind of authority I have relative to imported weapons as well as whether or not I have any authority to … these new weapons that are being made by 3D equipment that aren’t registered as guns at all. There may be some latitude there as well.”
The talk of an impending executive order comes four days after a 21-year-old man opened fire in a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket, killing 10 people, including a Boulder police officer.
Democrats have called for tougher gun-control measures as a result of the massacre, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who promised to address the issue.
“The Senate is going to debate and address the epidemic of gun violence in this country,” Schumer said on the Senate floor Tuesday. “Today, our hearts are with the people of Colorado and with everyone whose lives have been touched by gun violence.”
It was reported on Friday that the shooter passed a federal background check when he purchased a rifle roughly a week before the shooting.
While gun control is a popular issue with Democratic voters, polling this week following the shooting suggests that a majority of people don’t believe more gun control laws are needed and don’t believe mass shootings can be prevented.
