As expanded upon in his press release below, Lee Chatfield, Michigan State Speaker of the House, has removed Representative Cynthia Johnson from her committee roles ever since her above video threats went viral on social media. Quite frankly, however, his public statement is a cowardly disgrace that is grossly inadequate for what her actions should and do warrant.
Johnson should be immediately yanked from her seat on the state legislature, barred from any and all political influence, and swiftly arrested. She is a public safety and national security risk. Instead, Chatfield convolutes and dilutes what is an obvious call for insurrection with moral equivalencies that reduce her very real, direct, and serious threats to no more than one of many incidents.
Johnson does more than call fire in a crowded room. Yet, like so many other domestic terrorists as of late, she has been emboldened by inconsequential responses like those by Michigan’s House Speaker Chatfield. This puts us in danger. Her in-your-face public video warning and message to “soldiers,” instructing them to rise up against Trump supporters and the latter to stand down, are not only chilling — and some might even venture to say possessed and demonic — they are unmistakably reminiscent of the language a jihadi would use to call mujahideens (Islamic fighters or soldiers of Allah) into action. In other words, they resemble Islamic calls to jihad when activating terrorist cells in a full-scale holy war or, as Paul Mirengoff of Powerline suggests, “the Black Panthers, except those thugs weren’t elected officials.”
Choose your poison, but either way, Johnson’s public threats plainly surmount to nothing less than a blatant call to war, and her conduct does and should stand alone.
As an aside and right on cue, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) jumped to Johnson’s defense (see below for excerpt from December 7, 2020 press release by CAIR National Spokesman Ibrahim Hooper).

Update: Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield announced that State Rep. Cynthia Johnson has been “stripped of her committees” and is now under investigation following her threats to Trump supporters that went viral on Wednesday, and further disciplinary action would be considered.
Threats to Democrats or Republicans are unacceptable and un-American. They’re even more unbecoming of an elected official. Rep. Michigan Democratic State Rep. Cynthia Johnson threatened President Trump’s supporters in a Facebook live video Tuesday, warning that the left won’t tolerate their resistance to the fraudulent election.
“So this is just a warning to you Trumpers. Be careful, walk lightly, we ain’t playing with you. Enough of the shenanigans. Enough is enough,” Johnson snarls.

She then directed her leftist minion “soldiers” to “make them pay” for their defiance.
“And for those of you who are soldiers, you know how to do it. Do it right, be in order, make them pay,” she added.
Johnson made a national fool of herself last week by openly intimidating election witnesses testifying about the fraud they saw on election night, accusing them of lying and even demanding the full name of one witness without explaining her reasoning.

CAIR-MI Calls for Ethnic Intimidation Crime Probe of Threat to State Rep., Offers Reward for Info
(CANTON, MI, 12/7/20) – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today called on state law enforcement to investigate a recent lynching threat against an African-American state representative from Detroit.
CAIR-MI is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who contacts law enforcement authorities with information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
State Representative Cynthia Johnson recently received a series of harassing messages due to her questioning last Wednesday of the Trump campaign’s bid in front of the Michigan House Oversight Committee to overturn recent presidential election results in the state.

‘We call on state law enforcement authorities to probe the recent racist harassment against Rep. Johnson as a crime under the state’s ethnic intimidation law,’ said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. ‘Given the gruesome history of lynching of African-Americans in our country, a strong response is warranted in this matter to deter future threats against lawmakers in our state and nationwide.’
