Accomplices: CDC revealed to have worked with teachers union that lobbied to stop school reopenings

A series of emails just obtained by the NY Post shows that the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the second-largest teachers union in the United States, successfully lobbied the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) not to recommend earlier this year to fully and safely reopen schools.

Americans for Public Trust, a conservative group, obtained a series of emails through a Freedom of Information Act request, which can confirm the explicit connection between the CDC and the AFT in the discussion of reopening schools earlier this year, and also the pressure exerted by the union both to prevent attendance and to impose conditions and guidelines for opening.

The damning emails were provided to the New York Post by the group Americans for Public Trust.

The news is truly alarming for several reasons. First, because CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky insisted that the school reopening guidance was “free of political meddling” and based solely on scientific data and opinion.

And second, and no less critical, the AFT recently admitted to donating nearly $20 million to Democrats during the 2020 election, evidence of an irrefutable political connection and complicity between the sayings and actions of the federal government in the hands of the Democrats, the teachers union, and the CDC’s stated “recommendations.”

Teachers’ unions across the country have been unarguably opposed to the return of in-person learning, even though many health officials and countless scientific papers assert that in-person learning is safe for students and adults and does not pose a substantial risk of spreading the CCP Virus.

As reported by the New York Post, the emails “show a flurry of activity between CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, her top advisors and union officials—with Biden brass being looped in at the White House—in the days before the highly-anticipated Feb. 12 announcement on school-reopening guidelines.”

In one of the emails from AFT senior director of health issues Kelly Trautner, she even thanks CDC officials for the discussions and for sending a copy of the draft of the new reopening guidelines, on which she admits to providing comments and suggestions to “strengthen” the document.

In another email two days later, Trautner thanked Walensky for her “commitment to the association” and Walensky’s “genuine desire to earn our trust.”
