In a TV interview, General Asghar Emami says Iran can put America under siege by using its proxy terror groups to attack Israel.
One of Iran’s senior military commanders said in a television interview that the Islamic Republic can put America under siege by using its proxy terror groups to stage artillery and mortar attacks on Israel.
The comments by IRGC General Asghar Emami, a Quds Force commander, were translated by the the Middle East Media Research Institute, a media watchdog group that monitors what is going on in the region and translates it to English in order to show the reality of the Middle East.
Emami said that Iran can easily tighten its grip around “the throat of the Zionist regime” in order to extract pressure and exert concessions from America.
Israel has airplanes that can reach Iran, but Iran does not require airplanes or even rockets in order to target Israel, he said. Rather, he continued, it can place the Jewish state “under siege” via the artillery and mortar shells of the “resistance axis” – the Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror groups it funds and arms.
“The Minister of Communications and Intelligence of the Zionist regime has recently said that their airplanes can reach Iran. He made threats,” Emami said. “I’d like to say that this is true. Your planes can reach Iran. However, through our presence in the axis of resistance, we have placed you under siege.”
“Our mortars now reach your cities. We don’t need to send airplanes or send missiles to Israel. We are right next to their ear … Now, with our presence in the resistance axis, we can hit Israel with mortar shells. Whenever we want, whenever the leader wants and gives the order, we can easily plow the cities of the Zionist regime with very light shells and artillery,” he said.
Emami added that Iran’s navy is in the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea and they are also prepared to hit Israel from the water.
“In principle, we can say that the Zionist regime is the center of America. We can place [America] under siege. Whenever we want to strangle America, to exert pressure on it, extract concessions from it, and get what we deserve, we can easily tighten our grip around the throat of the Zionist regime, because it is surrounded from all directions,” Emami explained.
“There used to be a time when our navy could not go to the Persian Gulf or the Sea of Oman. Today, our navy is in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, conducting operational activities there. I’m not talking about the IRGC but about the army of the Islamic Republic, which is a regular army like all the armies in the world. The army Is present there and can hit [Israel]. You don’t need the IRGC for that,” he said.
Over the years, numerous Iranian military leaders have repeatedly stated that their goal is the “total annihilation” of Israel.
