60 Minutes on CBS is being inundated with backlash for daring to highlight the stories of young detransitioned people.

As I previously reported, 60 Minutes on CBS is being inundated with backlash for daring to highlight the stories of young detransitioned people. Advocacy groups such as GLAAD have hammered the segment as “shameful” while trans celebrities like Laverne Cox have described it as “dehumanizing.”

It’s not often that the stories of detransitioners get told within mainstream media for this precise reason – it’s just too much of a risk in the public square. There is an expectation to shove these stories under the table and ignore them.

Grace Lidinsky-Smith, the primary detransitoned person featured on the show, isn’t taking it lying down. I recently interviewed her for my YouTube channel and allowed her to go into further detail on the horrors of transition regret, free from the sanitization of television editing. She also responds to the backlash she and the show are receiving from trans influencers and social media.

Watch the full interview here:

Grace said, “The extreme reaction of outrage at detransitioners even being shown at all on national TV feels really unfair…. On the other hand, I also think that it is a little bit of an immature reaction, especially from some figureheads.”

On the topic of her transition regret, Grace explains to me that it was the worst mistake of her life. While she claims to have learned a hard lesson, she mourns the loss of her breasts due to her temporary but intense decisions.

Grace is part of a group called the Gender Care Consumer Advocacy Network (GCCAN). A quote from their website states: “Our mission is to empower recipients of gender transition-related care to become healthy and whole.”
