Seven Hong Kong Pro-Democracy Leaders are Convicted Under New China Law and Face Up to Five Years in Prison – KNOCK-ON EFFECT TO THE ABANDONMENT OF HONG KONG TO THE CHI-COMS![VIDEO]

FULL DISCLOSURE: This article registered for more than its geo-political implications, dire as they are.

AS it happens, right after the New Year, a Hong Kong-American couple fled to the U.S. (with their children) because they became ensnared in the cross-hairs of certain Hong Kong authorities, that is, who operate on behalf of their CHI-COM puppet-masters. Their ‘crime?’ As owners of a very highly successful international business, they were warned: while traveling for business, if they refuse to toe the regime’s talking points, well, there will be ‘consequences.’ Says who?

AND as the pressure built up, the handwriting became prominently displayed on the wall, so to speak. Inexorably, it left them no option but to flee for their lives.

IN this regard, in order not to call attention to themselves, they behaved as if they were heading to the U.S. for a long overdue visit with their relatives, and would return home in several weeks. In the meanwhile, they made various preparations to abandon their much loved home. They packed up only a few familial treasures, and left the rest behind. Tragic.

LONG story short: upon their arrival in the U.S., they found that their personal bank account was accessible (it must have been an oversight by Hong Kong-Chinese banking authorities), but their business account (the bulk of their monies, to the tune of multi-millions) was frozen — ostensibly due to ‘liens’ that magically appeared when they left Hong Kong!

HOW is this saga known at this end? Well, this writer’s partner has several homes; one of which is a very large townhouse on the upper East Side of NYC and is up for sale (btw, largely due to Comrade DeBlasio’s destructive swathe), prime real estate, by any residential standard.  And being that this wealthy couple has family in the area and is used to living in style, well, this exclusive property fit the bill  — until it didn’t.

AS such, when it came time to put down the required deposit — with the remainder to be paid in cash upon the closing — lo and behold, they found that their business account was ‘frozen’, as mentioned, solid.

THE point being, even if one is lucky enough to escape the physical boot of Hong Kong’s communist-aligned leaders — from what was once deemed an oasis of democratic norms within a sea of repression — well, as of now, China’s tentacles are never far from reach. Octopus-like.

SO, whereas it is no secret that the CHI-COM regime has been on the march for decades, it is entirely accurate to state: the installation of the Biden-Harris/Harris-Biden regime rocketed the CHI-COMS to the nth degree. Yes, Obama 3.0 ensured their stratospheric rise!

WITH the above in mind, is there anyone who believes that Hong Kong is in any way, shape, or form still a free society? If so, go back to sleep! Lights out.

THE GATEWAY PUNDIT | By Joe Hoft | April 1, 2021

Seven leaders in the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong were convicted earlier today for supporting democracy in the tiny country.  Another two protesters had previously pleaded guilty.

Below is the list of individuals:

According to the AP:

Seven of Hong Kong’s leading pro-democracy advocates, including a media tycoon and an 82-year-old veteran of the movement, were convicted Thursday for organizing and participating in a march during massive anti-government protests in 2019 that triggered a crackdown on dissent.

The verdict was the latest blow to the flagging democracy movement as the governments in Hong Kong and Beijing tighten the screws in their efforts to exert greater control over the semi-autonomous Chinese territory. Hong Kong had enjoyed a vibrant political culture and freedoms not seen elsewhere in China during the decades it was a British colony. Beijing had pledged to allow the city to retain those freedoms for 50 years when it took the territory back in 1997, but recently it has ushered in a series of measures that many fear are a step closer to making Hong Kong no different from cities on the mainland.

Jimmy Lai, the owner of the outspoken Apple Daily tabloid; Martin Lee, the octogenarian founder of the city’s Democratic Party; and five former pro-democracy lawmakers were found guilty in a ruling handed down by a district judge. They face up to five years in prison. Two other former lawmakers charged in the same case had pleaded guilty earlier.

At one point in recent years, Hong Kong had been named the freest country in the world.  This is no longer the case as China is clamping down on any protests against its moves in taking over the tiny country.
