‘The NYT’s & AOC Is In Full Retreat After Being Caught In 1619 Project Scandal’ – BLATANT REVISIONIST ‘HISTORY’ ERASED ONLINE; DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE…
RED/RIGHT/DAILY | September 22, 2020
After President Trump called them out the New York Times has quietly tried to delete some portions of the 1619 project.
The specific portion that has been deleted is the claim that the United States was founded in 1619.
When the 1619 project was published in August 2019 a special interactive website was launched and the original test read:
The 1619 project is a major initiative from The New York Times observing the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative. [emphasis added]
A group of distinguished historians also had issues with writer, Hannah-Jones’ 1619 essay claiming that the American Revolutionary War was about protecting slavery not breaking away from Britain.
More and more historians take issue with the 1619 project as it infects our schools. The claim that 1619 is “our true founding” haunts the Times.
Rather than address their historical inaccuracies the Times is quietly selective editing and sanitizing the 1619 project website.
After going on CNN, Nikole Hannah-Jones tried to deny she ever claimed the county was founded in 1619. However, immediately conservatives and historians searched her twitter feed which provided overwhelming evidence that the opposite was true.
The Times is not disclosing its edits and they are trying to make one of their foundational claims go “poof” into thin air.
Some of the most damning evidence came from the opening passage on the Time’s own website that proclaimed the project is designed to “reframe the country’s history” around the year “1619 as our true founding.”

James Lindsay has documented the NYT’s efforts in sanitizing the project and even AOC is caught up in the scandal.

Second – on August 16, 2019 the NYT appended a blurb with the now-deleted passage onto an interview with Lauretta Charlton, editor of its Race/Related newsletter.

Third – on the week that it published the 1619 Project, the NYT also used the now-deleted passage in an article announcing the launch of an accompanying K-12 curriculum from the Pulitzer Center. https://t.co/KpYmMWeE0T pic.twitter.com/7d1hHLQ8YL

Wow. I thought people were joking about Nikole Hannah-Jones deleting her entire tweet history. But apparently she really did. Not a good look. Has there been any explanation for why she and NYT aren’t being transparent about the 1619 Project?
