AS many in France and England awaken to the anti-democratic edicts ruling and ruining their lives, this writer’s leaders in Israel are totally out of control — demonstrably, as they deign to re-institute the second go-around of ‘green passports’, that is, as if they have the right to dictate this and that freedom according to vaccination status!! Simply put, they are power hungry.

The new plan to restore the Green Pass for containing the spreading covid delta variant goes into effect next Wednesday after getting government approval on Sunday.

People deemed immune to Covid-19, after vaccination or negative testing, may be admitted to  public spaces and events  – inside and outside – of more than 100 participants. Vaccination refusers over 12 must produce negative tests conducted at their own expense. Children under 12 are exempted from these rules.

Israel lifted almost all its restrictions in April after a crash vaccination program covering more than half of the population beat down the pandemic. More than a million people opted out of the shots. However, the highly contagious delta variant is now pushing the figures up: more than 1,300 tested positive on Wednesday, while serious cases – albeit still low – have begun to edge up.

Israeli travel has moreover now been banned to the, UK, Georgia, Hungary, Cyprus, in addition to Russia, Mexico, South Africa, India, Argentina, Brazil, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Spain and Kyrgyzstan.

ALAS, with the over the top rhetoric by world leaders, is it any wonder that a head’s up clarion call was issued at these pages and elsewhere?

LO and behold, many in France have upped the ante over the increasingly coercive and restrictive measures, and it is a freedom lovers sight to behold. Thankfully, the spirit of liberty is rearing its head and reigniting.

SO, as push comes to shove, is it any wonder that hundreds stormed a town hall and tore down a Macron portrait? And, does anyone believe that the following was an anomaly, a one-off, and that will be that?

Roughly 300 people stormed the Chambéry Town Hall in France in protest of vaccine passports.

The demonstrators tore down the official portrait of French President Emmanuel Macron.

As they stormed the building,  the people chanted “No to the [vaccine] pass,” and “Macron must resign!” French broadcaster France Info reports.

“The protesters then took down the official portrait of President Emmanuel Macron, a symbolic gesture that was also seen in late 2019 when climate activists stole the presidential portraits from some 130 town halls across France,” Breitbart News reports.

The protesters were only in the building for 10-15 minutes, according to reports.

“The city of Chambéry condemns with the utmost firmness this intrusion,” the mayor’s office said in a statement, and added that it was not “tolerable to attack republican symbols and the symbolic place that is a city hall.”

The protest was the third one to take place in the city this week.

Last weekend, over 100,000 people protested the passport policy, which will be required for people to enter certain businesses such as restaurants or engage in various forms of travel.
