By now you know about the idiots with their “autonomous zone” hippy safe space in Seattle, but did you know idiots are trying to do it in the middle of Nashville too?

There is an event tomorrow in Nashville, Tenn. inspired by the Seattle “autonomous zone.” Organizers are calling for people to come “reclaim” the Legislative Plaza.
Except unlike the moron mayor of Seattle, the Republican governor of Tennessee says they better not even try it there:
“We encourage Tennesseans to exercise their First Amendment rights and have seen many examples of peaceful protests across our state in recent weeks.”
“As demonstrations continue, we will continue to protect Tennesseans’ right to peaceful assembly, while also reassuring citizens that lawlessness, autonomous zones, and violence will not be tolerated.”
“Further, Tennessee law expressly prohibits camping on state property not expressly designated as a campground area, and that law will be enforced.”

An hour in, there have been no tents pitched at the Nashville CHAZ, where they say they’ve renamed the area where Edward Carmack’s statue was torn down for Ida B. Wells, the black journalist and civil rights advocate who Carmack hated.
Activist Justin Jones, says they’ll soon pitch tents.
“We intend to stay here,” @brotherjones_ says, until @GovBillLee comes out to talk to them.
Let the reader understand there is a 99.9999% chance the governor will not do that.
Annnd the first tent it being pitched at Nashville’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone outside the state Capitol. This is a crime in Tennessee, a law enacted after Occupy.
The protesters say they’re staying the night. Governor has said that ain’t happening. Troopers are nearby.

As my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported, the attempts in Nashville and Chicago by protesters to set up “autonomous zones” similar to the one that was set up in Seattle in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd have not gone so well.
The situation Friday night in Asheville, North Carolina was no different. Except in this case we have videos of the police department actually dismantling the encampment not long after occupiers in the area attempted to set it up.
Here’s how the situation played out on social media. Note the excitement and hype:

Asheville is known as the “Seattle” of North Carolina, with Raleigh not being far behind. But unlike Seattle, Asheville police officers do not mess around in these matters, as evidenced by what took place last night.
There are murmurings on social media that another attempt at setting up an “autonomous zone” in Asheville will be made tonight. We’ll see how that turns out.
