The Case of Virtual Sharia on Social Media Platforms and the Missing Links: Now You See Them, and Now You Don’t!

There is reason to indicate that there is much more going on with Facebook than first meets the eye or as was previously reported here just two days ago. Some very strange occurrences have transpired in the world of virtual reality on Facebook over the course of the past several days. Some are now saying it is no mere coincidence that the pages and posts of certain religious, right-leaning, pro-Israel, and humanitarian groups that are vocal about Islamic brutality, Sharia, terror, and jihad are vanishing into the black hole of Facebook’s abyss. Some have implied that something far less than pristine is up its sleeve — or more aptly in its pocket — than merely upholding its own Community Standards. Dave Gaubatz, counterterrorism and counterintelligence expert and author of  Muslim Mafiais one of them.

As a U.S. State Department-trained Arabic linguist and a retired Special Federal Agent with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Gaubatz has received the highest forms of U.S. intelligence clearances and top-secret briefings — including for weapons of mass destruction and espionage — for what is known as black projects. Since he retired, he has continued his work independently and has gone undercover for such projects as Mapping Sharia and has infiltrated and investigated hundreds of U.S. mosques and Islamic centers for terrorist cells, as well the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) — a named “joint venturer” in the largest U.S. Federal terrorist-financing trial to date, U.S.A. v. Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, et. al (HLF). Gaubatz gave Joe Newby of Examiner an earful the other day in what may be construed as a clear-cut case of Facebook Sharia, pulling off its vanishing act of the year in “Now you see it, and now you don’t” — only this time, you cannot see it at all on Facebook, at least not any of Joe Newby’s latest Examiner.com articles about it!

Newby, in a series of Examiner articles, has periodically investigated some of the pervasive double standards and biased practices about which Facebook users have frequently complained. It only stands to reason then that he took an interest when Islam Exposed — the largest educational page to report on news and information about Islamic brutality, Sharia, and jihad and to advocate against it — was shutdown with no other explanation than that it violated Facebook’s Community Standards. When he contacted Facebook to respond for his upcoming story, “Facebook Yanks, Restores Anti-Islam Page after Admins Receive Death Threats” — noting that the page administrators have received and reported numerous serious personal threats but were notified they did not constitute violations of its Community “Standards” — a spokesperson denied any bias by stating,

We review every piece of content that is reported to us or flagged in the system and each one is held to the same exact standard – as is every person who uses our service and we will enforce our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities equally.

A week later, after the Islam Exposed team received several additional curious post removal notices — including for one that asks its fans to elevate dialogue and prohibits derogatory, threatening comments about Muslims (and for which its creator, Ram Lubranicki, was rewarded with a 30-day ban) — Newby followed up with another Examiner article, “Facebook: Post Discouraging Hateful Rhetoric Violates Community Standards.”

But all was fine and dandy in the virtual world of reality according to Facebook — that is, until Newby released his second Examiner article that same day, “‘Muslim Mafia’ Author: Muslims Working with Facebook to Silence Critics of Islam.” In it, he describes an interview he had with Dave Gaubatz, who had infiltrated a Muslim conference in Detroit this month and reported on collusive dealings between Facebook and Twitter executives and several Islamic organizations, including Muslim Advocates, Islamic Society of North America, and North American Islamic Trust. (The latter two were named as unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation trial and listed in a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) document, which was introduced into evidence during trial, as two out of 29 front groups that are MB friends and would help it to destroy Western civilization from within by “‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions.”)

As Gaubatz reported to Newby, he had spoken to representatives from all three of these groups at the conference, and each had confirmed what some might surmise to be an unwholesome alliance with Facebook. “While at the conference,” writes Newby, “he reportedly spoke to a representative of a group known as Muslim Advocates, who said the organization is working ‘closely’ with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to close down accounts of users critical of Islam. According to Gaubatz,” he continues,

‘They are asking these groups to close the accounts of anyone who is critical of Islam,’ he said. ‘This is considered serious hate speech and should not be allowed on the Internet.’

‘This should be of no surprise to anyone,’ Gaubatz said.

Gaubatz also said the conference, which was attended by representatives and leaders from several groups, should have been named the ‘U.S. Constitution and the 1st Amendment are for MB terrorists and not for American Patriots.’ For four days, he said, he stayed at the same hotel as leaders from over a dozen groups that support the Muslim Brotherhood.

He reportedly met and spoke with executives from the Islamic Society of North America and the North American Islamic Trust.

‘I was informed that NAIT owned several hundred million dollars of property in America, and has the funding from 400 plus Islamic Centers in America,’ he added.

But Gaubatz’ report of collusion between these groups and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter present a clear danger to the fundamental right of free speech and Americans’ ability to freely express themselves online. As we have reported multiple times, Muslim activists have called for global blasphemy bans and an end to free speech in the United States, despite the clear language of the First Amendment.

Although Newby reached out to the group Muslim Advocates and Facebook, he did not receive a response until after the above article already was published, but Facebook responded with swift action . . .

Update: A few hours after this article was published, Facebook falsely flagged the link as ‘unsafe’ in what appears to be a bid to keep it from being circulated. We have reached out to Facebook, but have not received a response.

This is how his news story appeared in his post:

5-28-14 - FB Censors MB Article
This is the Facebook prompt that appeared when users attempted to access the link to his article:

5-29-14 - FB Notice of Malicious Content for Newby 5-28-14 Article
Of course, a spokesperson from Muslim Advocates did eventually respond to Newby’s inquiry, as his following update indicates:

Update #2: Muslim Advocates spokesperson Fatima Khan responded with an email claiming we misquoted their representative, even though we did not. The statement relayed to us was Gaubatz’s recollection, not a direct quote from MA or any of their representatives. We specifically asked Khan about the quote, and about allegations the group is working to shut down social media accounts of those critical of Islam. Khan never responded. The article was flagged by Facebook after our contact with Khan. More on the incident can be seen here.

Yet, out of sight is not necessarily out of mind. Newby’s readers are determined and resourceful and do not take too kindly to censorship. Nor did the Islam Exposed team of administrators. They attempted every which way to ensure that the story was viewed and shared by the public. They even tried posting and sharing the url to a list of his articles on the Examiner website, but an error message appeared. Subsequent articles (as well as previous ones) on the topic in both Examiner and other publications have produced similar results.

As of today, this is the Facebook prompt that appears when attempting to post either “White House Petition Demands End to Censorship of Speech Regarding Islam” or “‘Muslim Mafia’ Author: Muslims Working with Facebook to Silence Critics of Islamby Joe Newby:

5-30-14 FB Notice of Unsafe Link for D. Gaubatz Report

As for Facebook’s vanishing act — “Now you see them, and now you don’t” — the links to the following columns have now miraculously reappeared:

Yet, over the course of the past several days — since Newby first exposed the link (no pun intended) between Facebook, Twitter, and Islamic organizations — one minute the links will appear and Facebook users can access them, and the next minute they have vanished again into Facebook’s abyss and indubitably are marked with “Attachment Unavailable.”  Even more, it seems that the links are merely illusions.

As discussed in a prior report, those who oppose Islamic brutality, terror, Sharia, and Jihad are particularly feeling the Facebook squeeze, especially groups like Islam Exposed, whose page was shutdown but restored. When fans began to complain that their access and participation on it had been restricted and that many could no longer like, comment, and/or share posts, the team took a poll to determine whether Facebook had essentially banished them to an unpublished status by default.

And things certainly are not always as they seem, particularly in the virtual world of reality according to Facebook. While the links on the topic at hand now all seem to have miraculously reappeared in posts, the number of likes and shares they have received is at an unprecedented, abysmal low, leaving more than a few wondering if Facebook has disabled them from liking and sharing them or if the links even really exist. Many inquiring minds are now questioning whether or not they have been censored by default and if a form of stealth jihad and Sharia have now effectively been imposed through the invisible virtual hand of Facebook and its Islamic friends, and the preponderance of evidence does not seem to bode well in their favor. . .

UPDATES (June 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, 2014):
Tuesday, June 3, 2014: Facebook unpublished the Islam Exposed page once again, only this time it based its decision on the absurd, baseless grounds that it has violated Community Standards with pornographic content.

June 4, 2014: Joe Newby followed up with another report in the Examiner.com  (also dated June 3) entitled, “Counter-Terror Expert: Facebook Falsely Flags Articles, Links Critical of Islam.” Readers were quick to circulate it on Facebook, suspecting it too would soon be flagged, but they were never prepared for Facebook’s next move — not only are they now denied access to it due to the spurious claim that the link is unsafe, but Facebook has also erased all traces of it, including posts with it on the personal walls of its members, and, once again, it has pulled off the vanishing act of the year!

Newby discussed this issue on “Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children” radio show at 4 p.m. Pacific and 7 p.m. Eastern time. He invited Facebook to join him to respond. Facebook did not respond.

June 5, 2014: Posts that contained a link to Joe Newby’s article miraculously reappeared, and the link became accessible on Facebook.

June 6, 2014: As of June 6, Joe Newby is no longer permitted to comment on posts within Facebook groups, receiving another inexplicable prompt, “You have been temporarily banned from performing this action.”

The Islam Exposed Administrative team submitted a Letter of Response to Facebook, urging it to republish its primary page, reverse its baseless bans on some of its administrators, and to end its censorship and defamation campaign against journalist Joe Newby.

June 7, 2014: Two administrators of Islam Exposed — Lisa Michelle, who drafted and submitted the Response Letter to Facebook, and Ram Lubranicki, the Founder of Islam Exposed — received inexplicable notices that prohibit them access to their Support Dashboards, where the status of reports are sent and viewed.

Stay tuned for more updates as new details emerge . . .
