Eighth Century Jihad in Spain and India: Betrayal of Christians (Part 4)

Jihad in Europe began in 711 AD. According to Muslim history, an angry Christian by the name of Count Julian sought revenge against Roderick, the King of Spain. Julian contacted the Muslim, Tariq. The so-called “Christian” Julian sent his two daughters to Tariq to be his sex slaves as good faith and hatched a plan to move Muslim troops on merchant ships to Spain so no one would notice the invasion to destroy Roderick.
Upon landing, Tariq burned the boats so his men would either take Spain or die there. They were told there were many beautiful women they could ravish according to the Quran (4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50). The caliph also said he would not require his share of the booty and promised the warriors wine, women, silver, gold, and land if they succeeded. They succeeded with the help of fearful Christians. Julian urged Tariq to take the capital of Spain, Toledo. He took Toledo easily and among the spoils was King Solomon’s table of emeralds, which was taken by the Romans when they sacked Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Another Muslim wanted fame in Spain besides Tariq. His name was Musa. He landed with 18,000 troops and some Christian turncoats who feared the Muslims had opened the city gates of Seville, and the plunder began. By 718, Spain was taken, except for one Christian hold out ruled by Pelayo. He would not surrender and attacked from his mountainous area with only 300 men and defeated the Muslims. Pelayo quoted Biblical scripture to his men before battle and encouraged them not to fear. The Muslims left Pelayo alone because he fought valiantly, and they didn’t consider the fight worth the losses.
The Jihad turned even more malicious in India. Since they were not people of the book (Bible) like the Jews and Christians, the tax to live (jizya) was not offered—just death or conversion. However, yet another change occurred. Because the population was so great, they could hardly kill them all. Nor could they convert them all (too much work), so they changed the rules and let them pay jizya. The Muslims were, however, absolutely ruthless with the Hindus.
When 4,000 Hindus and 3,000 priests defended their temple and resisted conversion, the Muslims gathered them up, and it took them three days to massacre them all. Once again, it was ordered that if they were allowed to pay jizya to live, the income would meet expenditures of their venture—always about money, not necessarily what the Quran said. Much gold and silver allowed the jihad to continue—much like the oil money in the Middle East is today. They also took the best looking women back to Calif Walid as sex slaves. Walid heard that one of his generals had had sex with Janaki before he sent her to him—damaged goods. Walid ordered his commander to be sewn in a rawhide sack and sent to him. Obviously, he was dead upon arrival.
In 717 the second siege of Constantinople began (Muslims lost the first). It did not go well. The Byzantine general fooled the Muslim general, who arrived with 100,000 troops, into burning his own food supplies—indicating to the people in the city that the fight would be fast, nasty, and easy—but Constantinople did not surrender. The Muslims starved—eating animals, skins, leaves, etc. Because the winter was so bad and supplies could not arrive, the Christians withstood their attack. The surviving Muslims left for home. As a result of their loss of men, the Byzantines drove the Muslims out of Sicily and started raids in Syria and Egypt. By 720 the jihadi Muslims were in retreat and defeated in numerous locations.
Much infighting occurred between Muslim leaders as a result, but most was about money and the jizya. It got so bad that Muslim leaders used the Quran 5:33 to justify cutting off hands and feet and crucifying non-Arab Muslims who didn’t obey. Shite and Sunnis dismembered each other, and the battle between the caliphs and imams continued, causing weakness within Islam. By 732, the Battle of Tours defeated the Muslims. This battle stopped the Islamization of Europe (Isaiah 59:18-19; Ephesians 6:12).

Executions were carried out right in front of the Delhi’s emissary/palace to such an extent that the entrance to the palaces were often blocked by corpses.
